SUMMER SERIES CHAPTER TWELVE – Meet Cherice Jackson! Cherice is formerly from the Sterling-Rock Falls, IL Corps where she was a member and leader of The Salvation Army Women’s Ministries programs and a corps prayer ministry. Here is Cherice’s testimony:
“Women’s Ministries has impacted me in ways far beyond a brief testimony will allow! In 2014 I moved to Sterling, IL only knowing a few people. That was until I started attending the Women’s Ministry program through The Salvation Army. I enjoyed meeting women from all ages and stages of life and participating in the programs. The ladies there became a part of my extended family, some sisters, some cousins, some aunts and grandmas. These women played a vital role in my life, helping to plan my wedding, decorating the chapel and reception. They also held a baby shower for me. Once my daughter was born they welcomed her in to the weekly meetings, taking turns holding and caring for her throughout the night. It was a family environment. Over time I noticed a few more women with young children started to attended. They quickly saw how my daughter and I were loved and made to feel welcomed and cared for.
The women in our group offered prayer and advice throughout my life’s major decisions. As I grew in my faith and involvement, I was often asked to lead a variety of the weekly programs. I will always treasure those moments we laughed, cried, and of course tried new foods! Even though I have since moved away, I still keep in touch with several of the women and look forward to seeing the everyone at Divisional or Territorial events.”
