October 15, 2020
A Day of Remembrance.
It is recorded that as many as one in four women have suffered infertility, the loss of their pregnancy, or infant death. Some may say it is a “common” occurrence. But those who have experienced any of those things would say it is certainly not “common” for them. While each experience is unique unto its own, a shared understanding is one of deep sorrow and grief, the effects of which can be long-term.
Too often women and families grieve in silence. While the world moves on, we are forced to pick up and move on with it. However, “one in four” also means we are not alone. There are others who share our experience and our broken hearts.
We also are reminded that we have a loving God who sees, hears, and offers us comfort through those shared experiences.
There are many ways to commemorate this day. Some may take time to reflect. Some may choose to reach out to those who are hurting. Others will join with thousands at 7:00 pm on October 15 to light candles honoring all babies. At the very least we would suggest setting aside a time to specifically pray for those affected by this experience.
In Women’s Ministry, we have such a unique opportunity for spiritual care here. We can reach out to our members and others in our community to create a space to grieve, express feelings, and to honor the losses through the HANNAH SERVICE.
The Hannah Service is a meaningful program hosted at your corps or a shared place with other churches in your community at any time of the year. Click the link below to learn more.
Join us on October 15, 2020 to pray.
We see you. We hear you.
We remember with you.
