October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Domestic violence affects millions of people each year, crossing every age, race, gender, and background. Behind the statistics are real lives—neighbors, friends, family members—who may be suffering silently.
Silence allows abuse to continue. By talking about domestic violence, we remind survivors that they are not alone and that help is available. We also help break down the stigma and empower communities to stand against abuse.
The Salvation Army offers several safe shelters, counseling, and resources for survivors of domestic violence, empowering them to rebuild their lives free from abuse. Go to: thesalvationarmyusa.org/domesticviolence
This month, take time to learn the signs of domestic violence, share resources, and support organizations working to end the cycle of abuse. A kind word, a listening ear, or simply letting someone know you believe them can make a difference.
Together, we can raise awareness, offer hope, and build safe communities where every person can thrive free from violence.
