International Day of the Girl October 11, 2025
On December 19, 2011, United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution 66/170 to declare October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child, to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world.
International Day of the Girl raises awareness about the difficulties girls face and celebrates their empowerment and human rights.
The Salvation Army promotes and participates in this day to to highlight the challenges and opportunities and to spotlight the voices, gifts, and leadership of young women in our communities and corps.

‘The Warrior: Her Voice, His Victory’
The International Social Justice Girls’ Group has written resources to help celebrate the International Day of the Girl. Centered around Ephesians 6:10-18 – the Armor of God – these resources remind young women and girls that God equips us to be strong, standing firm on His Word.

Sunday, October 5, 2025 is the day on which the global Salvation Army invites you to commemorate IDG as a part of worship. However, we encourage you to celebrate at any time during the month of October.
