Raise Your Voice

Raise Your Voice—developed in The Salvation Army’s New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa Territory—is a powerful resource designed to help us explore and champion gender equality and equity. In our movement, the belief that every person is created in God’s image and called to fully participate in His mission is not optional—it’s central to who we are. This resource invites us to listen, learn, and speak with courage as we pursue a culture where women and men serve and lead side by side, reflecting the inclusive heart of Christ and the historic values of The Salvation Army.

Below is a snap shot of the 7 chapter study where you will explore scripture and discover how Jesus views and values women and consider what our response should be in today’s Christian church.

Revisit the beautiful story of Mary anointing Jesus’ feet at Bethany from the gospels. Mary was brave to enter a male-dominated room to express what the Savior meant to her. Jesus’ response is one of compassion as He welcomes her and even rebukes those who try to stop her.

“Leave her alone,” said Jesus. “Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me.”
