Day 3 – A Delightful Offering
by: Ann Beaulieu
Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.
Titus 2: 3-5 (NIV)
One of my greatest and most delightful daily offering to my Lord is practicing these verses in Titus when taking care of my grandson, James. I am honored to be able to put into practice the commandments in these verses concerning older women.
I am aware that in these verses Paul is talking first and foremost to older women about teaching the sound doctrine of Scriptures in accordance with the gospel. Afterward, he tells them how to go about doing this in their everyday lives. Since I am with James every day, I believe that I have a significant role in my grandson’s life, and I desire to be a good role model for him. This is my opportunity to leave him a legacy of how I lived my life for Christ in my daily routine. I can try to give him sound doctrine despite his young age.
As a grandmother, my hope and prayer is that he will recognize God when the Lord calls him, saves him and makes him his servant. Maybe our time spent together, the stories of faith I’ve told him, prayers answered I’ve shared with him, songs I’ve sang to him, and my love for my Savior will be memories he will be able to recall one day. It has always been my hope and my desire to practice these lovely verses in my own family. I praise God that I am finally able to do so.
May my offering of joy in taking care of this wonderful grandchild of mine, which has cost me to put aside many projects, be pleasing to my Lord. It has brought me many blessings above and beyond the striving toward human success that makes you believe you are worth something. My value is found in serving my Lord first. I truly found it in serving my little man, James, for the glory of God. Amen!

Thoughts to Ponder:
Who in your life are you trying to point toward Jesus?
Is there anything you could put aside or hold onto to show love to another person?
