The International Social Justice Commission invites you to celebrate United Nations International Day of the Girl on October 10, 2021 with the theme “Restore: Girls Caring for the Environment.”

This year will feature the voices of young Salvationist girls from around the world. Through this event, girls will be provided a platform to showcase their talents, using their voice, expressions, and creativity to spread awareness on environmental concerns and share what they are doing to restore the world around them.

THIS IS A FREE EVENT!

Here’s how to celebrate International Day of the Girl at your corps!

  • Use Sunday School opening to talk about creation and caring for the world God created during the weeks leading up to the event.
    space
  • Teach the “Creation to Restore” theme song.
    space
  • Dedicate one (or more) Sundays to this event using the suggested Sunday Worship outlines provided on the ISJC website.
    space
  • Have your girls make their own promotional posters, videos, Instagram posts (use #IDG2021), or use the Digital Resources of the ISJC website to share at your corps via Sunday bulletins, social media posts, slides, etc.
    space
  • Get your Sunbeams and Girl Guards involved by incorporating emblems that go with the “Restore: Girls Caring for the Environment” theme (Ecology, Flower Study, Tree Study, Creatures & Creation, Green Thumb, Growing Wild, Wild & Free, or create an “On Your Own”).
    space
  • Have your girls “adopt” a Women’s Ministries member and provide service project opportunities for them (ie: yard work; recycling; garage sale, etc.).
    space
  • Have your Women’s Ministries members “sponsor” a girl at your corps by providing group service  opportunities (ie: a corps clean-up day) where they can work together.
    space
  • Host a “watch party” for all the girls at your corps (see viewing opportunities via the ISJC YouTube link following the event).

Get your girls excited about this event created just for them!
