Ash Wednesday: A Time to Reflect and Renew

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season of reflection, sacrifice, and spiritual growth leading up to Easter. It is also a quiet, humbling reminder that we all need grace.

If you’ve ever attended an Ash Wednesday service, you know the moment well: stepping forward, feeling the cool touch of ashes as a cross is traced on your forehead, and hearing the words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” It’s a powerful reminder of our need for God’s mercy and thankfulness for Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross providing forgiveness of sins.

Lent isn’t just about giving something up—it’s about making space for what truly matters. Whether it’s through prayer, fasting, or acts of kindness, Ash Wednesday invites us to pause and reflect on Jesus’ life, ministry, and days leading up to the cross. This then gives us the opportunity to reflect on our own lives and renew our faith and commitment to Him.
